For most of my life I have surrounded myself with art, design, music and photography. Each experience and influence along the way has engrained some essential lessons with how to look at the world.
Music has filled my soul since I was a kid, but in college I feel in love with indie music. This resulted in a stint as a college radio dj, an internship at Live 105, time spent at recording studios and many late night concerts in San Francisco. All the while, my camera was at my side photographing my musician friends strutting on stage feeling enamored by their talent and expression. Their passion was my inspiration.
After college, I satisfied my creative yearnings working in the corporate side of retail loving the whole process of designing new products, marketing them and rolling them out into stores. I learned you need to be creative to get noticed but you still want to see the product in it's best form. With photography it is the same.
As I started to dance around my true love of photographer, I worked around photographers doing photo production. Not only did I learn that lighting is everything, I also experienced the beauty of collaboration. Stylists, art directors, photographers, producers, the client all working together to achieve the end result.
My husband and I opened up an antique business several years ago allowing me to photograph and style our products and work with top level interior designers. Trends are fun to play around with, but classic and timeless never go out of style.
Having kids might be the most creative project yet. Along with my husband, a furniture designer and a man of great style, I never grow tired of trying to capture their moments.
When I am photographing, you may catch me quickly rearranging items in a room to bring out the best in the space and to find the pieces that really showcase your uniqueness. You may see me photographing the "outtakes" when no one is noticing that the camera is still working so that I can grab a few unexpected and authentic shots. You will always find me using music for inspiration and most importantly, you will see that I believe in working together.
